(¤ 1886, † 1956); The writer and doctor Gottfried Benn was born on May 2, 1886, the son of the Protestant pastor Gustav Benn and his wife Caroline Benn in the village of Mansfeld near Pritzwalk in the district of Westprignitz. From September 1897 to September 1903 he attended the Friedrichs-Gymnasium in Frankfurt (Oder). First he studied theology and philology in Marburg. 1905-1910 medical studies at the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Academy for military medical education. From 1910-1911 position as a subdoctor at the Charité. Doctorate in 1912. In 1917 Benn settled in Berlin as a specialist for skin and venereal diseases. Benn died in Berlin just a few weeks after his 70th birthday on July 7, 1956.
