(¤ 1889, † 1948) Hulusi Behçet is considered one of the most important scientists in Turkish medicine. Behçet was born in Istanbul on February 20, 1889. He studied medicine in his hometown. 1910 dermatological training at Gulhane Military Hospital. 1914-1918 Completed his dermatological training in other European countries (Budapest, Berlin). 1923 Director at the Haskoy Hospital for venereal diseases. 1939 Full professor. 1929 First investigations of aphthous mucosal lesions of the mouth and genitals.
1937 First description of the symptom complex named after Behçet. Other fields of research: leishmaniasis, syphilis.
