Tall oil benzyl hydroxyethyl imidazolinum chloride is an imidazolamide based on tall oil fatty acids. Tall oil fatty acids denotes various fatty acids from tall oil (from the Swedish: tall = pine), an oily mixture of substances which is a by-product of the production of pulp from pine wood.

Tall oil benzyl hydroxyethyl imidazolinum chloride is used in cosmetic formulations. The substance mixture acts as an antistatic agent (reduces static charges by neutralizing the electric charge on the surface, for example of hair), hair conditioning agent (makes hair easy to comb, smooth, soft and shiny and gives it volume).
