Sodium chloride (inci)

"Sodium' means the element sodium, 'chloride' a salt of hydrochloric acid (HCl). Sodium chloride is used in cosmetic formulations. Sodium chloride has a masking effect (reduces or inhibits an undesirable intrinsic odour or taste of the product), a cleansing effect (cleans, deodorises and/or protects the oral cavity or teeth), a swelling agent (reduces the density of cosmetic products by swelling) and a viscosity regulating effect (increases or decreases the viscosity (toughness) of cosmetic products).
