Ricinoleamidopropyl betaine (inci)

"Ricinolamide' means a carboxylic acid amide of ricinoleic acid, 'betaine' means a derivative of the amino acid glycine. Betaine is formed as a by-product of sugar production from sugar beet molasses (beta vulgaris, hence "betaine").

Ricinoleamidopropyl betaine has an antistatic effect (reduces static electricity by neutralising the electrical charge on the surface, for example in hair) as a surfactant (washing-active substance; cares for the skin) and hair conditioning agent (makes hair easy to comb, smooth, soft and shiny and gives it volume).
