Polysilicones, also known as polysiloxanes, are silicon compounds in which the silicon atoms are linked together by oxygen bridges: -Si-O-Si-. Polysiloxanes, mostly polydimethylsiloxanes, are used in cleaning agents, cosmetics, deodorants, soaps and detergents. The number after the name defines the degree of polymerization of the substance.
Polysilcone-11 is used in cosmetic formulations. The substance acts as a film former (forms a film on skin, hair or nails when applied).
