Nerium oleander leaf extract, the extract from the leaves of the oleander tree (see below oleander), is used in cosmetic formulations. Nerium oleander leaf extract contains glycosides (main glycoside = oleandrin), flavonoids, tannins, resins. Nerium oleander leaf extract acts as a skin care agent.
Nerium oleander is the parent plant of Oleandri folium, the (popularly) medicinally used oleander leaves (containing the cardiac glyoside oleandrin). However, Oleandri folium received a negative monographbecause of insufficient efficacy.
