Disodium lauroamphodiacetate is the disodium salt of a lauric acid ester (dodecanoic acid). Disodium lauroamphodiacetate is used in cosmetic formulations. The substance acts as an antistatic agent (reduces static charges by neutralizing the electric charge on the surface, e.g. of hair). Furthermore, the substance acts as surfactant, viscosity regulator (increases or decreases the viscosity of cosmetic products) and foaming agent (foaming by changing the surface tension of the liquid).
