Dimethiconol borageate is used in cosmetic formulations. Dimethiconol behenate is a reaction product of fatty acids and dimethiconol obtained from the oil of the seeds of Borago officinalis, the borage. Chemically, dimethiconol is a silicone compound with a similar structure as dimethicone (dimethicone). Only the terminal CH3 group was replaced by a hydroxyl group (-OH). The substance acts as an emollient and skin care product.
