Tetroses are monosaccharides whose carbon skeleton contains 4 carbon atoms. All tetroses have the molecular formula C4H8O4 and differ in the type of carbonyl function. If it is a keto group it is called ketoses, if it is an aldehyde group it is called aldoses.
