Potassium aluminosilicate is a derivative of silicic acid(E 551). The substance is obtained from naturally occurring quartz sand.

Potassium aluminosilicate is an insoluble white odourless solid. The substance is listed in the EU under the number E 555 as a food additive only as a carrier in E 171, titanium dioxide, and E 172, iron oxides and iron hydroxides. The content is limited to max. 90% related to the pigment.
