Index describing epidemiological criteria in different populations. Application for the detection of contact allergens.

General informationThis section has been translated automatically.

  • The detection of contact allergens in several populations differs significantly in various criteria. If nickel sensitization frequently occurs in a population A, this is usually due to a high proportion of female volunteers in the population surveyed. Fragrance sensitizations, on the other hand, mostly occur in populations with a high age. Depending on the composition of the surveyed population, this results in results that make a direct comparison difficult. It can therefore be concluded that there are at least 2 factors (age and gender) between the interviewed collectives that influence the sensitization rate. In order to improve the qualitative recording of contact sensitizations, the MOAHLFA index was therefore introduced to record a systematic and more uniform assessment of type IV sensitizations.
  • In addition to age and sex, the index also includes other criteria: M (men), O (occupational dermatitis), A (atopic dermatitis), H (hand dermatitis), L (leg dermatitis), F (face dermatitis) and A (age > 40).
  • The MOAHLFA index is used in the studies of the Informationsverbund Dermatologischer Kliniken ( IVDK).
