Glycyrrhetinsäure

Inhaltsstoff von Glycyrrhiza glabra Linné, dem Süßholzstrauch (echtes Süßholz). Pentacyclische Triterpensäure mit steroidaler Grundstruktur, ohne glukokortikoidale, jedoch mit mineralokortikoidaler und leichter saponinartiger Aktivität (kaum hämolytisch). Glycyrrhetinsäure wird v. a. in der Wurzel des Strauchs (Süßholzwurzel) nachgewiesen.

Glycyrrhetinsäure (Glycyrrhetinic acid) wird in kosmetischen Rezepturen verwendet. Es dient als Haarkonditionierungs- und Hautpflegemittel. Die Substanz wirkt weiterhin antibakteriell (Oyama K et al. 2016).

Glycyrrhetinsäure ist das Aglykon von Glycyrrhizin.

Arzneilich wird die Glycyrrhetinsäure bei Ulcus ventriculi und Gastritis eingesetzt. Für diese Indikationen liegen keine offizinellen Monographien vor.

Als Glycyrrhetinate werden die Ester/Salze der Glycyrrhetinsäure bezeichnet.
